Alliant Techsystems (ATK) Space Systems Group announced Sept. 2 that it was in the midst of expanding a satellite component manufacturing facility in San Diego and expected to complete the project in early 2010.
A 10-year lease with WCV Properties will expand ATK’s current facility to over 19,500 square meters. The additional space will be used primarily for the production of composite satellite components, ATK said in a press release.
Construction on the new facility began in July following ATK’s decision to consolidate its Corona, Calif.-based facility with the San Diego facility.
The expansion is expected to result in 100 new jobs in San Diego, many of which will be filled by ATK’s Corona employees, according to the release.
