The American Society for Gravitational and Space Research Board of Governors is pleased to announce that Mr. Paul Secor will assume the role of Executive Director. Mr. Secor replaces Dr. Gale Allen who announced she would be retiring as Executive Director after serving three years in the role.
Mr. Secor will assume the role of Executive Director May 10, 2021. Secor will be responsible for implementing the policies and vision of the Board of Directors. He will serve as the main public contact and spokesperson for the organization and will represent ASGSR and all professional business capacities. “Mr. Secor’s expertise in NASA-related educational and technology transfer activities will be a valuable asset for the ASGSR research and development community” says Dr. Jamie Foster, President of the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research.
Mr. Secor’s career has been dedicated to Space Research and Education. In 2001, he became the Director of the NASA Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) at the State of Florida’s Technological Research and Development Authority. This national program assisted more than 500 small businesses each year in solving technical challenges by connecting them with assistance provided by scientists and engineers working at aerospace contractors. In 2009, he started his own business called Secor Strategies which provides program management services to NASA, academia, and the aerospace industry. Some of the programs he has helped to lead, develop, and/or support include: NASA Minority Innovation Challenges Institute (NASA MICI), the NASA Robotic Mining Competition (NASA RMC), the NASA Swarmathon, the NASA MUREP Innovative New Designs for Space (NASA MINDS), and the Florida Governor’s School for Space Science and Technology. In 2012, he supported the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Center in assisting in coordinating the rollover ceremony for Space Shuttle Atlantis.
Mr. Secor is a certified grant writer with the American Grant Writers Association and has secured more than $7 million for clients including the University of Central Florida, the University of New Mexico, and Enterprise Florida, Florida A&M University and several others. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, is certified in Organizational Management from the US Chamber of Commerce and has completed Congressional Appropriations courses at Georgetown University’s Government Affairs Institute. Mr. Secor resides near the Kennedy Space Center in Titusville, FL.
