Sacramento, Calif.-based Aerojet said Nov. 12 it had received a contract from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center to continue development of a multicircuit liquid oxygen/liquid hydrogen injector that someday could be incorporated into a propulsion system for a lunar lander.
Under the contract, the value of which was not disclosed, Aerojet will complete the detailed design, fabrication, acceptance testing and delivery of the 9,000-pound Deep Throttling Injector.
Aerojet is performing the work as part of the NASA Exploration Systems Mission Directorate’s Propulsion and Cryogenic Advanced Development Project.
