COM DEV International Ltd. (TSX:CDV), a leading manufacturer of space hardware subsystems, today announced that it has received a series of orders to supply multiplexers, switches and ancillary equipment for a commercial communications satellite. The contract is valued in excess of $6 million, with work scheduled to be completed at COM DEV’s facilities in Cambridge over the next year. All figures in this release are stated in Canadian dollars.

The satellite will include a payload designed for traditional broadcasting functions as well as a High Throughput Satellite (HTS) payload whose numerous spot-beams will provide a range of broadband data services to commercial customers.

“We are increasingly seeing HTS payloads included on commercial communications satellites, to enable the operators to exploit a growing market opportunity,” said Mike Williams, president of
COM DEV’s products division. “We are pleased to be in a position to supply a range of equipment for both types of payloads.”
