Arianespace is one of the sponsors of the APSCC 2013 (Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council) Conference & Exhibition in Hong Kong from September 24 to 26, where it is reaffirming its position as the benchmark satellite launch services provider in the Asia-Pacific region.
Arianespace has already signed three contracts with operators in the Asia-Pacific region in 2013, bringing the number of satellites to be launched for operators in the region to seven starting in 2014. This total includes two satellites for the Australian operator National Broadband Network Corporation; one for NewSat, also based in Australia; one for Optus SingTel (Australia-Singapore); one for ABS of Hong Kong; one for Measat (Malaysia); and one for the Japanese operator SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation.
Since opening offices in Tokyo in 1986 and Singapore in 1996, Arianespace has become a major partner to satellite communications operators and manufacturers in the Asia-Pacific region. Arianespace has launched 64 geostationary satellites for 12 operators from the region to date, giving it a market share exceeding 60% in the Asia-Pacific.
In 2013 Arianespace has already launched two telecommunications satellites for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), using the Ariane 5 launcher, and an Earth observation satellite for Vietnam, using the Vega light launcher.
During the APSCC 2013 Conference, Arianespace Chairman and CEO Stéphane Israël presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Ali Ebadi, Senior Vice President of Measat, and the Satellite Executive of the Year in Asia-Pacific award to William Wade, President and CEO of AsiaSat. Addressing an audience with all operators from the Asia-Pacific region, Mr. Israël said, “I would like to thank you for your continued confidence and loyalty. You alone account for 20 to 25 percent of Arianespace’s business in geostationary transfer orbit launches over the last decade. I am also very impressed by the number of projects under consideration to meet growing needs for direct broadcasting and broadband services in this region, especially in the segment for three-ton class satellites. You can be assured that Arianespace is fully committed to pursuing our partnership, by offering even more competitive launch services, more closely tailored to your needs, with the support of our sales & marketing teams in Tokyo and Singapore.”
