OM DEV International Ltd. a leading manufacturer of space hardware subsystems, today announced that it has been awarded an authorization to proceed (ATP) to provide switches, filters and multiplexers for a commercial communications satellite. The ATP, valued at US$1.8 million, is expected to lead to a full contract valued in excess of US$7 million. The Company expects to complete work on the contract by the end of fiscal 2011 at its facility in Cambridge, Ontario.

The contract represents the fourth satellite order resulting from an agreement first announced in January, 2010, under which COM DEV provided the customer with pricing terms for equipment on four satellites.

“We have been seeing a trend whereby some customers are negotiating terms with us in advance on multiple spacecraft that they plan to build and launch. This is one of many indications that the commercial communications satellite market remains robust,” said Michael Pley, Interim CEO of COM DEV. “We are happy to work with our customers in this manner, and pleased to win their repeat business.”
