Cape Canaveral AFS, Fla (Nov. 25, 2008) – Jerry Jamison, United Launch Alliance’s Vice President, Launch Operations recently announced the appointment of Anthony “Tony” Taliancich to lead ULA East Coast Launch Operations. Previously, Taliancich served as ULA’s Space Launch Complex-41 Site Director for east coast Atlas V launch operations since the formation of ULA Dec. 1, 2006.
In his new role, Taliancich is responsible for leading all Atlas and Delta Launch activities at the Cape while overseeing the day to day work of nearly 850 employees. At Cape Canaveral, ULA is responsible for integrating launch services for the company’s three launch vehicles, the Atlas V, Delta II and Delta IV.
“Tony brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position having worked with the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle program almost since its inception in the 1990s,” Jamison said. “His extensive experience working within the Air Force and National Reconnaissance Office during his military career and with NASA and our other government customers while with Lockheed and ULA make him the right choice for this new position.”
With more than 25 years of space related program experience in the military and private industry, Taliancich previously served as Senior Manager of Atlas Government Launch Programs supporting the Atlas U.S. Government Programs Office. He was responsible for providing programmatic support to Government customers for Atlas II, Atlas III & Atlas V systems.
During his AF career, he served in the Office of Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition as the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) Program Element Monitor and Program Management Staff Officer in the Directorate of Space Programs. He also served as Director of the EELV Cape Consolidated Task Force (CCTF), Cape Canaveral AFS. In this capacity, he stood-up the organization leading a 50-person team providing technical surveillance and monitoring of EELV launch activities.
ULA program management, engineering, test and mission support functions are headquartered in Denver, Colo. Manufacturing, assembly and integration operations are located at Decatur, Ala., Harlingen, Texas, San Diego, Calif., and Denver, Colo. Launch operations are located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., and Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.
