Earth imagery services provider DigitalGlobe will deliver additional wide-area mapping and 24-hour web delivery of priority images to the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) under a one-year contract, which NGA valued at $37.9 million, DigitalGlobe announced Oct. 5.
Revenue from the contract, which the company had expected, will be paid as images are delivered. Jeff Kerridge, senior vice president for defense and intelligence at Longmont, Colo.-based DigitalGlobe, said the company’s expanded ground network will help ensure that the requisite amount of cloud-free images is taken in the 12-month period starting in late 2011.
The contract is part of NGA’s Enhanced Geoint Delivery program, a component of the 10-year EnhancedView contract. Kerridge said the capability is an outgrowth of the Rapid Delivery of Online Geospatial Intelligence (RDOG) system it first brought into operation in 2009.
