NASA awarded the Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) a contract worth $9.6 million to support the Climate Absolute Radiance and Refractivity Observatory (CLARREO) mission, the Logan, Utah-based research and development shop announced Aug. 13.
The Space Dynamics Laboratory will provide expertise in infrared sensing for CLARREO instrument development and data analysis. CLARREO is a two-satellite mission to study natural and human-induced changes to the global climate. The mission, led by NASA’s Langley Space Center in Hampton, Va., is slated to launch in the latter part of the decade and cost between $600 million and $800 million.
