OTTAWA, ON, February 20, 2003 – Earlier today Telesat experienced a malfunction on Nimiq 2 which affected the available power on the spacecraft.

Measures were immediately taken to restore the affected traffic. The majority of the transponders are functioning normally and the situation has stabilized. A plan has also been implemented to minimize the impact of the anomaly on the customer.

Telesat is working with the Nimiq 2 spacecraft manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, to understand the cause of the anomaly and determine the next steps.
