MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced today that the company’s Geographic Information Products
Group has been awarded a one-year contract by the United States Air Force
Eagle Vision Program. The agreement, valued at $1.2 million (CDN), enables the
USAF to routinely receive RADARSAT-1 imagery at its three Eagle Vision
portable ground stations.
At present, only the first Eagle Vision station – based in Ramstein
Germany – is able to receive imagery from RADARSAT-1. With this award, the
Eagle Vision program will enhance its ability to provide all-weather imagery
to the USAF’s global military operations.
Eagle Vision stations are mobile satellite receiving stations designed to
collect commercial satellite imagery.
MDA’s Information Systems Group has played a key role in building
portions of Eagle Vision ground stations over the past several years.
