Five companies have been picked by NASA to provide space propulsion technologies in support of research and development activities at the agency’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, NASA announced March 26.
Each of the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts runs for five years and carries a maximum value of $50 million, according to a NASA press release.
The companies selected are Aerojet of Sacramento, Calif.; ATK Mission Systems of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems of Redondo Beach, Calif.; Orbital Technologies Corp. of Madison, Wis.; and Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne of Canoga Park, Calif.
NASA said the companies will perform work in six disciplines: propulsion system design and trade studies; nontoxic chemical propulsion systems; hypergolic propulsion systems; propellant systems; electric propulsion; and rocket-based combined cycle propulsion systems.
