Satellite operator Intelsat announced executive changes March 11 including the appointment of Stephen Spengler as president and chief commercial officer and Michelle Bryan as executive vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer, effective March 18.
Intelsat’s board also elected David McGlade, deputy chairman and chief executive, to chairman and chief executive, effective April 1. McGlade has been chief executive of the Washington and Luxembourg-based satellite operator, the world’s largest, for the past eight years. He replaces Raymond Svider of BC Partners, the private equity firm that owns a majority stake in Intelsat, as chairman.
Spengler has held various executive positions with Intelsat since 2003, most recently as executive vice president of sales, marketing and strategy. He will be maintaining current responsibilities, including oversight of Intelsat’s government marketing arm, Intelsat General, in his new role, the company said.
Intelsat spokeswoman Dianne VanBeber said Spengler’s promotion represents a newly created position at the company.
Bryan will succeed Phillip Spector in the role of Intelsat general counsel, the company said. Spector will move to a new role on Intelsat’s board, effective April 1, the company said. Prior to joining Intelsat, Bryan served as general counsel to US Airways Group and Laidlaw International.
Intelsat also announced that Thierry Guillemin, has been promoted to executive vice president and chief technical officer. Guillemin previously was senior vice president and chief technical officer.
