Israel-based satellite operator Space Communications Ltd. (Spacecom) will provide bandwidth to be used by U.S. Department of Defense customers under a pair of contracts with DRS Technical Services, Tel Aviv-based Spacecom announced Oct. 29.
DRS Technical Services of Reston, Va., is one of eight companies recently qualified to provide custom satellite solutions to U.S. government customers under the Future Comsatcom Services Acquisition C2 contracting vehicle. The company does not operate satellites but leases bandwidth from firms that do.
Spacecom will provide C-band capacity on its Amos-5 satellite under one of the contracts and Ku-band capacity on its Amos-3 satellite under the other. “Our Amos-3 and Amos-5 satellites offer services to U.S. customers requiring reach into the Middle East and back to Europe,” Drew Marks, Spacecom vice president of sales for North America, said in a prepared statement.
