Kathy Lueders has been appointed program manager for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, NASA announced April 21.
Lueders had been running the Kennedy Space Center-based program in an acting capacity since October, when Ed Mango resigned to fight a federal conflict of interest charge related to lending money to a subordinate. In March, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida fined Mango $2,000 for one count of “acts affecting a personal financial interest.” Mango still works for NASA.
Lueders managed NASA’s International Space Station Program Transportation Integration Office at Johnson Space Center in Houston before moving to Kennedy in March 2013 to replace astronaut Brett Jett as Mango’s deputy.
