PARIS — Satellite fleet operator Sky Perfect JSat has selected SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket to launch the JCSat-14 telecommunications satellite in the second half of 2015, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) announced Jan. 10.

The satellite, under construction by Space Systems Loral of Palto Alto, Calif., is designed to operate from JSat’s 154 degrees east orbital slot and to replace the JCSat-2A satellite already there. JCSat-14 will carry 18 Ku-band and 26 C-band transponders.

Hawthorne, Calif.-based SpaceX in the past five weeks has conducted its first two dedicated commercial launches of telecommunications satellites to geostationary transfer orbit, for SES of Luxembourg and Thaicom of Thailand.
