Job Title: Sales and Marketing Manager
Location: Remote, Washington, D.C. area – based preferred
Reporting: This position reports directly to the Global Sales Director.

Position Overview: As the Sales and Marketing Manager at SpaceNews, you will embark on an exciting journey to drive advertising and sponsorship sales while expanding our network of industry contacts. You will be instrumental in generating revenue through advertising and sponsorships, conceptualizing new product ideas, nurturing client relationships, and fostering leads. Additionally, you will contribute to SpaceNews’ marketing efforts by attending conferences, managing BD social media, and assisting in coordinating virtual and in-person networking events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively pursue advertising and sponsorship sales to meet and exceed targets.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with advertising clients, ensuring exceptional service and fostering growth.
  • Expand industry contacts through strategic networking and outreach initiatives.
  • Conceive and present innovative product and sponsorship ideas to senior management.
  • Provide clients with insightful metric reports and campaign guidance to optimize advertising strategies.
  • Represent SpaceNews at industry conferences and events.
  • Assist in marketing communications activities, including social media management, newsletter creation, and event coordination.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Global Sales to ensure seamless execution of initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Business, Marketing, or related field. Background in the space industry is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated success in advertising and sponsorship sales or relevant experience in space industry marketing communications.
  • Preferred experience in social media marketing and event management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ad and social media post design, with a preference for experience in InDesign, Canva or other design software. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding brand standards is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative thinking ability with a knack for generating fresh ideas.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capacity to thrive in both independent and collaborative work environments within a fast-paced, remote setting.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Proficiency and confidence in conducting in-person client meetings at events or their offices.
