Yuri’s Night, the World Space Party, has officially opened event registration for those interested in participating in Yuri’s Night 2016.

Every April 12, scientists, artists, and space fans come together at events around the world to celebrate humanity’s past, present and future in space. Yuri’s Night 2015 featured over 220 parties and events on all seven continents, including a flagship event with astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison at the California Science Center.

“We’re excited to make this the greatest year yet for Yuri’s Night”, Yuri’s Night Executive Director Jeffrey Alles said. “We’ve got some exciting announcements in the works–join us as we Rock The Planet in 2016!”

Yuri’s Night is a global celebration of humanity’s past, present, and future in space. Yuri’s Night parties and events are held around the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human to venture into space on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981. In 2011, the 50th anniversary of human spaceflight, over 100,000 people attended 567 officially-recognized events in 75 countries on all 7 continents.
