Press activities have been finalized for the Meeting of the High
Energy Astrophysics Division of the AAS, to be held from April 20-23,
2002, at the Albuquerque Convention Center, in Albuquerque, N.M. The
meeting is being held jointly with the American Physical Society
meeting.
Press activities begin on Sunday morning, April 21, with new
information about the origin of the most energetic particles in the
Universe. The complete media program includes new results on pulsars,
black holes, mysterious X-ray flashes, and spectacular images from
the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Reporters will also have the
opportunity to speak with Prof. Michael Turner regarding the findings
of the “Committee on Physics of the Universe” which was commissioned
by the National Academy of Sciences, following this report’s public
release.
Meeting registration for the media is free and can be arranged by
filling out the form at the bottom of this advisory and sending to
one of the press officers by phone, fax, email, or postal mail.
