The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today announced the presentation of its Service to the Satellite Industry Recognition Award at SIA’s 19th Annual Satellite Leadership Dinner in Washington, DC. SIA’s Executive Chair and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for EchoStar presented Winston Caldwell, Vice President, Spectrum Engineering, Advanced Engineering, Fox Networks Group, with SIA’s 2016 Service to the Satellite Industry Recognition Award.

“We are very pleased to recognize Winston Caldwell with SIA’s inaugural Service to the Satellite Industry Recognition Award for his efforts in assisting the satellite industry to raise awareness both domestically and abroad, of the critical role that C-band spectrum plays in satellite distribution of video programming and other applications worldwide,” said Tom Stroup, President of SIA. “We thank Winston for his efforts and technical contributions for advocating on spectrum issues, for the Fox Networks Group specifically and for the broadcast/programming community in general, both here and around the world. Spectrum is the vital component shared by broadcasters, terrestrial providers and the satellite community to provide government, enterprise and consumers with the highly valuable services they are increasingly demanding. Collectively, we must all collaborate with the regulatory community to find common ground in order to maximize the benefits each of us has to offer its customers and society here and abroad.”

In accepting the award, Winston Caldwell stated, “I don’t have to tell this audience how important it is to protect the services operating in the C-band but it is because of [SIA membership] that C-band remains the most reliable and efficient means to deliver high capacity content around the world.”
