U.S. satellite navigation hardware manufacturer Trimble is acquiring Munich, Germany-based Definiens AG’s Earth sciences business assets and licensing its eCognition geospatial imaging analysis software platform in an all-cash transaction both companies announced June 11.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Trimble and Definiens said the transaction gives Trimble world-class image analysis capabilities while freeing Definiens to focus on image analysis in the healthcare industry.
