Alcatel Space announced today that it has won
the international request for proposals issued by KT Corporation (formerly
Korea Telecom) and the Korean Agency for Defense Development (ADD) to build
South Korea’s Koreasat 5 civil and military communications satellite.
Alcatel Space will supply both the multimission satellite and its ground
control system.

Based on the new-generation Spacebus 4000 platform, Koreasat 5 will feature
a state-of-the-art broadband payload, including new technologies developed
within the scope of the Syracuse III program.

Announcing this selection, Alcatel Space’s Chairman and CEO Pascale
