The National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) is honored to share that their educational program, Discovering Flight: Learning With The National Aviation Hall of Fame, will be supported by a generous grant provided by FedEx.
NAHF President and CEO Amy Spowart said, “This donation is a tremendous show of support from a worldwide leader in aviation and community engagement. It is extra meaningful because not only is it impactful for the program, but also because it is inspired by Fred Smith, Founder, Chair, and CEO of FedEx, who was inducted into the NAHF in 2007. Our mission is to honor aerospace legends to inspire future leaders, and when we receive support from an Enshrinee, we feel that we are accomplishing our mission at the highest level. “
Mr. Smith was inducted because of his impact as a Marine Aviator and his use of aviation to change the way the world transports and logistically moves goods. FedEx is the world’s largest transportation company, and integral to Smith’s vision for the organization is global engagement through giving.
The goal of Discovering Flight is to inspire and build the confidence of future aviation and aerospace innovators, which is an essential part of the NAHF’s mission. “We seek to ensure that all children have equal access to quality aviation and aerospace STEAM-based education,” said Spowart. “Discovering Flight is a multi-faceted curriculum strategy, created by the leaders in early childhood education, ThinkTV/PBS, that enables the NAHF and our partners to support young learners and educators to engage our audience both in the Heritage Hall & Education Center and remotely.”
