Four CBC members lead the discussion on putting the right team together for innovation, education and sustainable job growth for the African American community.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 16, 2011) Coinciding with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the 3rd annual Space Entrepreneurship Forum (SEF) will present how space entrepreneurship provides economic and development opportunities to minority-owned businesses.

The forum will be held at the Rayburn Building’s Room 2237, September 21 from 3:00pm – 5pm
The event is free and open to the public.

The SEF is organized by The Juxtopia Group and The JAKA Consulting Group in cooperation with Representatives Chaka Fattah (PA-2) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30).

Three expert panels will discuss the future of commercial space initiatives and what it takes to put together the right team in NASA’s post shuttle era. Among the distinguished panel members and guest are Federal organizations involved in Space, NASA, universities, and private industry. Remarks will be heard by several members of Congress

The Juxtopia Group and the JAKA Consulting Group realize that organizing the right team is important to ensure success, especially in this industry.

“We’re proud to bring this forum to CBC attendees and to the public,” notes Ken Harvey, President and CEO of JAKA Consulting Group. According to Dr. Jayfus T. Doswell of the Juxtopia Group, “The new space industry will provide capabilities for underrepresented minorities to innovate and manufacture products that contribute to interplanetary missions. Congress Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (FL17) asserts “With the rise of commercial space opportunities, African American space entrepreneurs are poised to benefit from the transition taking place in the industry. I’m pleased to join my CBC colleagues from the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology at the 3rd Annual Space Entrepreneurship Forum to address critical issues at the intersection of space policy and the African American community”.

Allen Herbert, vice president of development for JAKA Consulting, says “Job creation is the key to improving our economy and with African American unemployment at an all time high it is important we look at participating in industries of the present and future.”
