Surrey Satellite Technology (Surrey) announces the expansion of its low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite platform product capability with an extended nanosatellite offering. This follows the recent announcement by Surrey of its contract award for the VESTA nanosatellite mission.
Surrey’s expanded LEO product capability now includes additional configurations suited for missions ranging in mass from 10 to 75 kilograms, with pricing starting at $500,000. With scalable architecture and a modular avionics solution, these entry-level platform configurations offer power, mass, and payload capability exceeding those of other offerings in its class. Surrey specifically developed the expanded product offering to cater to customers requiring more flexibility and performance than can be readily provided by conventional cubesat solutions.
With these additions, Surrey’s LEO product capability now spans missions from 3 to 1,000 kilograms.
“We’ve seen a huge increase in the number of prospective customers attracted by the price point of cubesat platforms, but requiring larger, more capable solutions,” stated Dr. John Paffett, CEO of Surrey Satellite Technology US LLC. “This is an exciting expansion of our LEO product capability and provides us with a high-quality, cost-effective solution to address their needs. While these platform configurations come in a small package, they still offer high-end capabilities, performance, and greater flexibility in payload accommodation. We also see real opportunities to employ these new configurations for the implementation of future constellations, which would directly address the mission needs of new commercial space markets.”
Visit the Surrey Satellite exhibit at the Small Satellite Conference in Logan, Utah, August 8–11, where Surrey will display a full-scale model of one of its new entry level platform configurations.
