What: On July 28, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., will hold two 2011 Honor Awards ceremonies to recognize Marshall project teams and individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the work of the center and to NASA’s multifaceted mission of exploration and discovery.

Members of the local news media are invited to attend.

Who: Bryan O’Connor, chief of the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance at NASA Headquarters in Washington, will deliver the keynote address and join Marshall Center leaders to present awards.

When: Thursday, July 28
NASA Honor Awards — 10 a.m. to approximately noon CDT
Marshall Honor Awards — 2 p.m. to approximately 4 p.m.

(To ensure adequate security processing and badging time, members of the media are encouraged to arrive at Gate 9 at least 45 minutes prior to event start.)

Where: Morris Auditorium, Building 4200, Marshall Space Flight Center, Rideout Road

To attend: News media interested in attending the event should contact the Marshall Center’s Public & Employee Communications Office at 256-544-0034 no later than 4 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, July 27. Media must report to the Redstone Arsenal Joint Visitor Control Center at Gate 9, Interstate 565 interchange at Rideout Road/Research Park Boulevard. Vehicles are subject to a security search at the gate. News media will need two photo identifications and proof of car insurance. Visitor parking is available in front of Building 4200 on the southwest side.
