(Oklahoma City) What may be the most important agreement in Western
Oklahoma’s history will be signed during a special ceremony Tuesday (16th)
during the City Council Meeting in Clinton at 5:30, at City Hall.

Four months of hard work has produced the document that makes it possible
to proceed with the licensing by the Federal Aviation Administration of
Spaceport Oklahoma, formerly known as “Clinton-Sherman Industrial Air Park”.
General Jay Edwards, Executive Director of the first inland Spaceport in the
U.S., Bob Triplette Chairman of the Agency, Mayor of Clinton Don Rodolph and
Gary Gorshing Executive Director of Southwest Oklahoma Development Authority
will be there to sign the document, accompanied by several members of the
Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA) who approved the
three-way agreement during their regular meeting Wednesday. Senator Gilmer
Capps, Bill Kerr, Representatives Jack Bonny and James Covey and others are
invited.

This agreement is between the Southwest Oklahoma Development Authority, the
City of Clinton and OSIDA. With this signing, the focus of the facility
called “spectacular” because of its runway and location, is space-related
companies for operation in the State.
The signing ceremony is open to the public.

Following the signing, the Authority, at their next meeting, is expected to
sub-lease space on Spaceport Oklahoma to Space Adventures, Pioneer
Rocketplanes and Space Development. These three companies have different
missions but are working together to bring manufacturing, tourism and more
to the Western Oklahoma location. Other companies are requesting contracts
as well.

Aerospace is Oklahoma’s number one industry, larger than agriculture and
oil/gas combined. This signing ceremony means even more aerospace business
for Oklahoma and a unique position for space company operations away from
the east or west coast.
