The Space Foundation
and Colorado Space Business Roundtable (CSBR) are pleased to
announce that Elon Musk, chairman and chief executive officer of
Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), will be the featured
speaker at the CSBR Luncheon at the 19th National Space
Symposium. The luncheon will take place on Wednesday, April 9
from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in The Broadmoor Hotel’s main ballroom.

Widely regarded as the premier conference for space professionals
anywhere in the world today, the National Space Symposium is the
only space-related conference to fully integrate all sectors of space –
commercial, civil and national security – while attracting the most
important and influential speakers and the national leadership of the
space industry. The 19th National Space Symposium runs April 7-10
at The Broadmoor Hotel. To register for the luncheon or get more
information on the symposium, call the Space Foundation at 1-800-
691-4000 or visit www.spacesymposium.org.

SpaceX is developing a family of launch vehicles to substantially
reduce the cost of reliable access to space. The company officially
began operations in June 2002 and is building their first launch
vehicle named Falcon. The Falcon is a two-stage, liquid oxygen and
kerosene powered rocket capable of placing half a ton into low Earth
orbit.

“The fact that Space X is building rockets to launch satellites and
research payloads weighing up to 1,000 pounds for less than one-
third the cost of existing launch vehicles can possibly be of interest to
the Colorado space community,” said Linda Strine, chair of the
CSBR.

Before SpaceX, Musk co-founded PayPal, the world’s leading
electronic payment system that has over 20 million customers in 38
countries. In October 2002, eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion.
Musk also established the Musk Foundation, which supports
philanthropic objectives in education, clean & renewable energy and
medical research. He earned a physics degree from the University of
Pennsylvania and a business degree from Wharton College.

The 19th National Space Symposium’s opening ceremony is co-
sponsored by Northrop Grumman Corporation; the exhibit center is
sponsored by The Boeing Company; the media center and Space
Career Fair for College Students Luncheon are both sponsored by
Lockheed Martin Corporation; the 15th Anniversary Space
Technology Hall of Fame Awards Dinner is co-sponsored by
