Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) (NASDAQ: LORL), the world’s leading provider of commercial satellites, today announced that one of its engineers, Adam Maher, has been honored by the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI), for his leadership in systems and mechanical engineering. The award, which recognizes young leaders in the satellite industry for outstanding achievement, was presented at the annual Future Leaders Dinner, which took place on October 12 in conjunction with Satellite Week in NYC.
“In reviewing a multitude of nominations, Adam Maher stood out among the rest for his ability to play a leadership role just four years out of school,” said Robert Bell, Executive Director of SSPI. “Space Systems/Loral clearly has what it takes to attract and nurture exceptional young professionals as demonstrated by its four Promise Award honorees over the last five years.”
Adam Maher joined Space Systems/Loral in 2007 as a new graduate from Cornell University with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a systems engineer over the past four years, he was involved in some of the company’s most complex and challenging projects. He earned a reputation for identifying issues before they became problems and for facilitating a smooth satellite test program.
His demonstrated leadership and technical ability led to a recent promotion to the company’s Advanced Systems group where he has taken a leadership role in one of the company’s critical research and development projects.
“Adam’s initiative, curiosity and desire to do the right thing, are a perfect fit for the culture here at SS/L,” said John Celli, president of Space Systems/Loral. “Even in the midst of significant challenges and pressure to keep satellite programs on track, he is always cheerful and never loses sight of the big picture. He is well deserving of the SSPI’s recognition.”
Since 2006, SSPI’s Future Leaders Dinner has honored men and women 35 and under with the talent and motivation to advance into leadership positions in the satellite industry. Held in conjunction with the SATCON conference in New York, the Future Leaders Dinner helps the SSPI support scholarships, internships and educational development partnerships with the university sector.
