Mission managers will discuss recent activities on board
the International Space Station, and preview upcoming events
during a briefing beginning at 2:30 p.m. EDT Thursday, Oct.
18. The briefings will originate from the Johnson Space
Center in Houston and will be carried live on NASA
Television.
On Friday, Oct. 19, Expedition Three Commander Frank
Culbertson, Pilot Vladimir Dezhurov and Flight Engineer
Mikhail Tyurin will board the Soyuz currently attached to the
station, undock and fly the vehicle to its new location on
the Pirs Docking Compartment. That relocation will set the
stage for the arrival of a new Soyuz vehicle and its three-
member crew on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Culbertson and Dezhurov plan a third spacewalk on Nov. 5 to
complete the external outfitting of Pirs. The crew also will
prepare for the mid-November arrival of a Progress resupply
vehicle and the late November launch of Space Shuttle
Endeavour’s STS-108 mission to deliver the Expedition Four
residents for a five month stay on orbit.
Participants in the briefing will include:
* Mark Ferring, ISS Lead Stage Flight Director
* Melissa Gard, Expedition Three Increment Manager
* Glenda Laws, Expedition Three EVA Officer
