International Space Station crew members Susan Helms and
Jim Voss will pay tribute to those who gave their lives in
defense of America’s freedom in a special Memorial Day
message. The message will air Thursday, May 24, between 11
a.m. and noon EDT on NASA Television.
Three of America’s military branches have been represented in
space aboard the International Space Station. Expedition Two
Crewmember Susan Helms is an Air Force Colonel, while fellow
crewmember Jim Voss is a retired Army Colonel. Expedition One
Commander Bill Shepherd, who departed the space station in
March, is a Navy Captain.
Following its initial broadcast on Thursday, the message will
be replayed during the NASA Television Video File throughout
Thursday, May 24; Friday, May 25; and Monday, May 28. The
Video File airs weekdays at noon Eastern time with replays at
3 p.m., 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and midnight.
NASA Television is broadcast on GE-2, transponder 9C, C-Band,
