NASA has been without a worthwhile long-term goal or strategy since the Apollo Era, which was to put men on the Moon before the end of the 1960’s. The goal now should be the sustainable human settlement of space. Without a long-term, sustainable, settlement-enabled plan of attack, the talented work force of NASA and our hard-earned tax dollars are being squandered on ‘running in place’ projects like the Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion. These systems are not sustainable, do not lead to space settlement, break faith with the flexibility and talent of the NASA workforce, and waste money competing with the commercial sector, which should be NASA’s partners.

There is another way. Another way to fulfill the potential of NASA, another way to grow the space industry, and another way for the USA to lead in space once again.

Alongside the video announcement made recently during the NewSpace 2013 Conference, the Space Frontier Foundation announces the release of the supporting website, which includes details about how and why the video was made, details on each of the five steps to Mars, the budgetary sources and data used to substantiate the claims made (thus proving that it is indeed possible to have such a bold plan), and a discussion forum where space experts, as well as enthusiasts from all over, can collaborate on the best ideas.

Since the video release just over one week ago, NASA, industry, and non-profit representatives have reached out to us in support of this effort, and the video is currently being translated into Russian and Chinese, so that it can be distributed to our space-loving brethren in other countries. We want to continue this push. We MUST continue this push. Join our discussion, and support our movement now with your much-needed donation.

Together, we will make a difference.
