The Space Foundation builds awareness of the benefits of space through its Space Certification™ program, which awards a “seal of approval” to companies whose products and services can demonstrate a viable link to the space program. Much of the technology we use daily was originally developed for space exploration and later adapted to benefit our lives on Earth.

The most recent company to become a Space Certification partner for its space-based technology is Liberty BioSecurity. Using a unique biological isolate obtained from a national governmental space exploration agency, Liberty BioSecurity has developed an additive that demonstrates significant UV shielding properties. The additive has been identified to have broad commercial applicability including sunscreens, cosmetics, paints, bioengineering and other industrial goods.

Liberty BioSecurity is a privately-owned biotechnology company that develops novel solutions to the most challenging problems in biology and human health. Liberty’s innovations are derived from a dynamic global network of scientists, physicians, bioinformaticians, and national security practitioners that together, leverage their interdisciplinary skills to discover new drugs, biological capabilities, and engineering solutions that advance the human condition.

Liberty’s innovations are derived from an expansive portfolio of novel and organically derived compounds that are either internally discovered by its staff or obtained through relationships with leading academic institutions and government agencies. Liberty is a founding member of EdenRoc Sciences, a family of life science companies, and is headquartered in Virginia with laboratories and offices in Massachusetts, Florida, Thailand, and Australia.
