Sierra Nevada Corporation’s (SNC) Space Systems congratulates United Launch Alliance (ULA), a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, on their 100th consecutive successful launch since the company was formed in late 2006. ULA’s 100th successful launch took place in the early hours on Friday, October 2, 2015 when ULA launched the Morelos-3 satellite from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.
“We at SNC congratulate our friends at ULA, under the leadership of Tory Bruno, on achieving this unprecedented milestone for their organization,” said Mark N. Sirangelo, corporate vice president, SNC’s Space Systems. “Providing reliable launch services is one of the most challenging endeavors in the aerospace industry and for an organization to achieve this level of success is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated. We’re proud of our long-standing, positive relationship with ULA and look forward to continuing to work together. When it became time to select a launch vehicle for the first orbital launch of SNC’s Dream Chaser spacecraft, we knew ULA’s commitment to mission success and proven track record were accomplishments that we wanted to align our program with.”
SNC’s Dream Chaser spacecraft is the only reusable, lifting-body, multi-mission-capable space utility vehicle with a commercial runway landing capability, anywhere in the world – offering safe, affordable, flexible and reliable crewed and uncrewed transportation services to low-Earth orbit (LEO) destinations such as the International Space Station (ISS). SNC is working with ULA to provide its launch services for the Dream Chaser Cargo System, SNC’s solution for NASA’s commercial transportation services needs under the Cargo Resupply Services 2 (CRS2) contract.
