NASA’s Assistant Administrator, Office of Equal
Opportunity Programs, Dr Dorothy Hayden-Watkins will be
honored Friday at the University of Nebraska (UNL) Alumni
Association Banquet at the Champions Club, Lincoln,
Nebraska.

This prestigious award is given to those individuals that
have succeeded beyond the call of duty in both their
professional and personal accomplishments. Hayden-Watkins’
career spans more than 25 years. She is an author, public
affairs talk show host and lecturer. Hayden-Watkins has
chaired and served as an independent director on a variety
of boards and commissions.

Hayden-Watkins joined NASA in January. She provides guidance
and planning to help NASA strengthen the agency’s workforce
and expand cultural diversity. Hayden-Watkins will meet with
UNL officials to share information about NASA’s
collaboration with internal and external partners to enhance
education and career opportunities for minorities, women,
and people with disabilities in science and space
exploration.

Prior to coming to NASA, Hayden-Watkins was the principal of
Hayden-Watkins & Associates. The executive consulting firm
provided technical advice and services in planning,
implementing and evaluating diversity and equal opportunity
programs.

Hayden-Watkins has a Ph.D in Community and Human Resources
and a master’s in Education and Administration from the
University of Nebraska. Her B.A. is in Social Science and
English from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley,
Colo.
