On Wednesday, July 13, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Chairman of the Commerce Subcommittee on Science and Space, will attend the NASA return to flight launch of Shuttle Discovery in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
On June 23, Sen. Hutchison passed her NASA reauthorization bill through the full Commerce Committee. The bill authorizes NASA for Fiscal Years 2006 through 2010, provides a legislative framework for a national space exploration policy, requires completion of the International Space Station (ISS) and prohibits a gap in U.S. human space flight capability.
Any members of the media requesting interviews, either before or after the launch, should contact Jamie Loftus in Sen. Hutchison’s press office as soon as possible at 202-224-9767. More details on tomorrow’s launch agenda will follow.
