On Monday, October 16, at 10 am EDT, the National Science Foundation will hold a press conference in Washington D.C. to announce new developments in gravitational-wave astronomy. The unique global telescope network of Las Cumbres Observatory has played a critical role in this effort. Dr. Andy Howell, Staff Scientist at Las Cumbres Observatory, will be participating in the Washington press conference.

Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO, https://lco.global) is a nonprofit corporation based in Goleta, California, dedicated to advancing worldwide understanding of the universe through science with its global network of full robotic optical telescopes. LCO began its mission in 2005 and has been operating a global network continuously since May of 2014. The network currently consists of twenty telescopes, located at six sites of high astronomical quality, which together serve as a single integrated observatory. The observatory is leading the future of time domain astronomy with observations that capitalize on the network’s unique capabilities.
