The launch of a NASA Terrier-Improved Orion suborbital sounding rocket from NASA’s Wallops flight Facility in Virginia has been rescheduled between 7 and 10 a.m., Friday, June 10, after the vehicle failed to ignite during this morning’s launch attempt.

The launch team determined that a misfire occurred because of a short circuit in the ground electrical support system. The rocket and the payload were undamaged by the short circuit and the ground support system has been repaired.

The launch is a test of several new rocket technologies including the Small Rocket/Spacecraft Technology (SMART) platform, Autonomous Flight Safety System, Low Cost Telemetry Transmitter, and an electrohydrodynamic-based thermal control unit.

Further information on these systems is available on the Internet at:

The rocket will be visible to residents in the Wallops area. The NASA Visitor Center will open at 6 a.m. on launch day for viewing the launch.
