The Commercial Spaceflight Federation hosted its 5th in a series of Executive Leadership Forums on Tuesday, an open dialogue for policymakers, industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss key issues and opportunities in the commercial spaceflight industry.
The keynote speaker, Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) said that, “Our nation’s history in space has always featured partnerships with industry. If we want to continue to benefit from the unique advantages that space affords, we must carefully craft a framework for the future that sustains America’s presence in outer space, not because of government programs, but because we are free, as private citizens, to explore, discover and use outer space.”
Rep. Babin serves on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Space where he leads the national dialogue on America’s space policy. Rep. Babin coauthored The Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act, signed into law by President Obama in November 2015, that promotes American space commerce and creates new opportunities for job creation and growth in the U.S. space economy. He also serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
“On behalf of the commercial space industry, we commend Rep. Babin for his continued leadership on commercial spaceflight issues, providing a critical foundation for a sustainable space economy,” said CSF President Eric Stallmer. “We are grateful for the Chairman’s commitment to policies that will expand growth in the industry and preserve our nation’s competitive edge in space.”
“Thank you to the Commercial Spaceflight Federation and its members for allowing me the opportunity to discuss my views on the state of the commercial spaceflight industry and start a discussion on a vision for the future,” Rep. Babin said.
