Letter to Editor:

Your article about NASA Administrator Mike Griffin’s views on the importance within the NASA community of open, respectful communications [“Hypersonics Research Could Get Resurrected at NASA,” May 9, page 7] is more-than-welcome news to me.

The hubris demonstrated by the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate in trashing the major space research organization (Office of Biological & Physical Research) they inherited is shameful.

Their approach appears to be the opposite of what Griffin favors. I hope that Griffin is able to change this situation so that differing views can be heard within NASA, Congress and the space research community.

Thanks for giving me some hope.
