WHAT: On Saturday, Oct. 24, scientists from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will present a series of short talks to walk the public through the scientific evidence for global warming. They will present the latest data from satellites and other sources on Earth’s atmosphere, ocean, Arctic ice cap and carbon cycle, showing the changes that are occurring. In addition, there will be a demonstration of NASA’s “Eyes on the Earth 3-D” multimedia project, which allows people everywhere to stay up-to-date with the latest information on Earth’s vital signs.
WHO: Speakers include JPL Earth scientists, such as Moustafa Chahine, science team leader for the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder instrument on NASA’s Aqua satellite; Lee- Lueng Fu, project scientist for the Ocean Surface Topography Mission/Jason-2 satellite; and Duane Waliser, a senior research scientist in JPL’s Water and Carbon Cycles Group. The symposium is sponsored by the JPL Green Club, and is being held in conjunction with the International Day of Climate Action.
