Company Marks 20th Year of Scholarship Program

150 Children of Orbital Employees Have Received Over $500,000 for Undergraduate Education Since 1992

(Dulles, VA 17 August 2012) – Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE: ORB) today announced the recipients of the company’s 2012 Orbital Scholars program that provides scholarships to support the undergraduate education of children of Orbital’s employees. This year, 12 applicants were chosen to receive scholarships based on selection criteria that included academic achievement, strong work ethic, desire to succeed, and acceptance at an accredited college or university. The company established the Orbital Scholars program in 1992 and has made awards to approximately 150 children, totaling over $500,000, during the 20-year period of the program.

The recipients of the 2012-2013 Orbital Scholars awards are as follows:

$6,000 scholarships (payable over two years)

* Isha Agarwal, who will attend the University of Maryland
* Keith Heiner, who will attend Brigham Young University
* Sameer Singh, who will attend the University of Pennsylvania
* Abagail Thompson, who will attend the College of William & Mary

$3,000 scholarships (payable over two years)

* Morgan Baumgartner, who will attend the University of Virginia
* Stacie Chiang, who will attend The George Washington University
* Ashley Ferguson, who will attend the University of Virginia
* Scott Harris, who will attend Brigham Young University
* Patrick McGovern, who will attend the College of William & Mary
* Kaitlin Oberg, who will attend the College of William & Mary
* Marzia Shah, who will attend Arizona State University
* Jacova Snyder, who will attend Azusa Pacific University

Previous year’s recipients of the Orbital Scholars program have attended some of the country’s most prestigious public and private colleges and universities, with many of them choosing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concentrations.
