Editors note: As a follow-up to Orbital Recovery Corp.’s recent press release on a rescue mission for the stranded ASTRA 1K satellite, a high-resolution image is now available depicting the rescue procedure.

The image shows Orbital Recovery Corp’s Geosynch Spacecraft Life Extension System (SLES) spacecraft moving into position for docking with the ASTRA 1K satellite. This .jpg image is posted on the Orbital Recovery Corp. Web site (http://www.orbitalrecovery.com) in the “Images” section.

ASTRA 1K – which is one of the world’s largest telecommunications satellites — was stranded in an incorrect orbit by its launch vehicle on Nov. 26.  Orbital Recovery Corp. is proposing a mission using its SLES spacecraft to boost ASTRA 1K from its current 290-km. circular orbit to the correct 35,000-km. geostationary orbit altitude.
