Orbital Sciences
Corporation announced today that it has been awarded the James S.
Cogswell Industrial Security Achievement Award by the U.S. Department of
Defense. As one of only seven government contracting companies nationwide to
be recognized for this prestigious award, Orbital joins an elite group that
represents the top one-tenth of one percent of the over 11,000 government
contractors that participate in the industrial security program and are
eligible for the Cogswell award. Orbital’s Dulles, VA facility, home of the
company’s corporate headquarters, satellite design and manufacturing, and
space launch vehicle program management, was selected for the award.

“Orbital’s selection for the Cogswell award reflects our total commitment
to principles of industrial security as outlined by the Defense Security
Service’s National Industrial Security Program,” said Mr. Mark Bitterman, the
company’s Senior Vice President of Government Relations. “On behalf of our
entire company, I want to commend Vincent Frammartino, our Senior Manager of
Corporate and Industrial Security, and his team of professionals for their
outstanding work.”

Each year, the Defense Security Service recognizes outstanding
participation and compliance with the National Industrial Security Program by
contractor facilities with the Cogswell award. The criteria for the award
include a company’s focus on industrial security excellence, adherence to the
National Industrial Security Program guidelines and setting standards to be
emulated by other contractors participating in the program.
