The space industry’s premier annual gathering of the global space community, the National Space Symposium, annually brings together all sectors of space — civil, commercial, and national security — to discuss the most current and pressing issues facing the space industry. A special focus panel on Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) at the 24th National Space Symposium will feature top space industry executives and government officials. This panel is one of a series bridging the symposium with the global security conference, Strategic Space and Defense, conducted annually by the Space Foundation and partner, Space News in Omaha, Neb. The panel will take place at 3:45 p.m. on April 8, during the symposium, which is scheduled April 7-10 at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.
Lt. Gen. William L. Shelton, USAF, commander 14th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic-Space), Air Force Space Command, and commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Space, United States Strategic Command, will lead the panel which features Mr. Richard F. Ambrose, vice president & general manager, Surveillance and Navigation Systems, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company; Brig. Gen. John E. Hyten, USAF, director of plans & requirements, Air Force Space Command; and Ms. Gwynne Shotwell, vice president, business development, SpaceX.
The focus of the panel is the status and evolution of ORS. Panelists will address the impact of recent developments such as the establishment of the ORS office as well as the continually shifting definition of this highly debated subject.
In addition to this outstanding panel, the 24th National Space Symposium is packed with featured speeches and other timely panel discussions by the most senior government officials and industry leaders in space. More than 7,500 participants from across the United States and many foreign countries are expected to attend. Participants, who represent both the history and future of this $220 billion industry, include senior executive leadership from NASA, NOAA, and other civil space and government agencies; the commercial space and satellite broadcasting industry; the Department of Defense and military space commands; space entrepreneurs; universities and academia; and senior representatives from the global space industry.
