Space Foundation officials announced that registration is now available online for Florida Space 2005 at www.FloridaSpace.org. Florida space professionals and those with interests in Florida will gather in November at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for the inaugural conference, which is expected to become the leading event serving the Florida space community and economy. Early bird registration rates are available until Oct. 14. Florida Space 2005 will be held Nov. 15-17.

Florida Space 2005 will bring together civil, commercial, national security and education sectors to discuss space exploration opportunities, issues and challenges from the local to global level. Panels include

  • The State of Global Space
  • Harvesting Current Opportunities
  • Breakout Opportunity Part I – The Vision for Space Exploration
  • Breakout Opportunity Part II – National Security Space
  • Entrepreneurial Space
  • Positioning Florida for the Future

Early confirmed speakers are James W. Kennedy, director of the Kennedy Space Center; former NASA astronaut and retired Navy Capt. Winston E. Scott, executive director of the Florida Space Authority; Lon Rains, editor of Space News and vice president, Trade Publishing – Editorial, Imaginova; and John Glisch, editorial page editor at Florida Today.

The event intends to draw attendees from throughout Florida’s diverse space community and from the space sector nationwide. Florida Space 2005 will build on the best features of Space Congress and the Cape Canaveral Spaceport Symposium, both long-time community space events now retired, and whose heritage will be honored at this inaugural event conducted by the Space Foundation.
