CLEVELAND — Media are invited to attend NASA Glenn Research Center’s Disability Awareness Day Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. The ceremony, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), will showcase Ohio’s traveling ADA mural, which stands 6 feet tall and 30 feet wide.
The mural, designed by artist Kong Ho, includes drawings, photographs, poetry and essays from 13 Ohio artists with disabilities and celebrates ability and inclusion of the disabled.
During the ceremony, Cleveland born Shari Veleba and Ann Christopher, both of Columbus, Ohio, will present a short video on the making of the mural and a look ahead to work that must be done to ensure greater inclusion in the future.
The ADA is a federal law that guarantees equal opportunities to disabled individuals.
Glenn’s Disability Awareness Committee sponsors the Disability Awareness Day Ceremony.
An informal media opportunity will be held after the event from 3 to 3:30 p.m.
