Today Yu.P. Semenov, S.P. Korolev RSC Energia’s President, General Designer and N.N. Sevastianov, Gascom Public Corporation (PC) General Director signed a joint communique on the beginning of the Yamal-200 satellites production, that states the following:

On July 24, 2000 S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia and Gascom PC signed a contract for supply of four Yamal-200 communication satellites.

The Yamal-200 project has evolved from the Yamal-100 project. The Yamal-100 satellite was developed by S.P. Korolev RSC Energia by request of Gascom PC in the interests of Gascom PC and launched into orbit on September 6, 1999.

S.P. Korolev RSC Energia is a prime developer of the Yamal-200 satellites.

Gascom PC is a customer and operator of the Yamal-200 satellites. In the framework of this project Gaskom PC is responsible for development of payloads, establishment of the ground control complex and coordination of orbital positions.

The first two Yamal-200 satellites shall be injected into orbital positions of 90* E, and 49* E by one launch of the Proton launch vehicle in summer 2002.

The Yamal-200 to be injected into an orbital position of 90* E will be equipped with a combined C and Ku band payload. The communication coverage area includes the territory of Russia/CIS and neighbouring countries.

The Yamal-200 to be injected into an orbital position of 49* E will be equipped with a C band payload. The satellite provides a communication coverage of a wide area including the biggest part of Russia/CIS, Europe, Middle East, South and South-East Asia.

S.P.Korolev RSC Energia is a leading Russian rocket and space company.

Gascom PC is a Russian telecommunication company, that was established by Gasprom PC and S.P. Korolev RSC Energia.
