Applications are now available for Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE:NOC) annual Engineering Scholars competition, which will provide a total of $20,000 in college scholarships to local high school seniors interested in studying engineering.

Two individual scholarships of $10,000–payable in $2,500 installments over four years, provided that continuing eligibility requirements are met–will be awarded by Northrop Grumman to qualified high school seniors residing in Los Angeles or Ventura counties, near the company’s Navigation Systems Division facility in Woodland Hills.

“Northrop Grumman is proud to support the pursuit of engineering degrees and careers,” said Liz Iversen, vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman’s Navigation Systems Division. “We look forward to seeing what the future holds for these driven, talented students.”

A committee of Northrop Grumman employees will select the Engineering Scholars winners. Each applicant must be a graduating senior in the spring of 2012 from a public or accredited private high school in the sponsored locations, specifically, the Antelope, Conejo, San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Simi Valley communities. Scholarship program candidates must have achieved a minimum composite SAT score of 1700 or ACT score of 27, as well as a minimum GPA of 3.5. The application deadline is March 31, 2012.

Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college or university school of engineering as a full-time student in an approved engineering program. Funds may be used for tuition, books, lodging and meals. Recipients of other Northrop Grumman-sponsored scholarships are not eligible.
