The final spacewalk scheduled for the current
International Space Station (ISS) crew and an update on their
activities will be the focus of a news conference at 2 p.m.
EDT Friday Aug. 27.
The Mission Status Briefing will originate from the Johnson
Space Center, Houston, and will be broadcast live on NASA
Television. Reporters also will be able to ask questions from
participating NASA centers.
Now in the fifth month of their six-month mission, Expedition
9 Commander Gennady Padalka and Flight Engineer and NASA ISS
Science Officer Mike Fincke will venture outside the outpost
for their fourth and final time on Sept. 3. Hatch opening is
planned to take place at 12:50 p.m. EDT. The crew will
continue outfitting the space station with navigation aids
for next year’s maiden arrival of the European Automated
Transfer Vehicle cargo spacecraft.
The participants in the briefing will be:
- Mark Geyer, ISS Manager for Integration and Operations
- Matt Abbott, Expedition 9 Lead Flight Director
- Paul Boehm, Expedition 9 Lead EVA Officer
NASA Television is available in the continental U.S. on AMC-
6, Transponder 9C, C-Band, located at 72 degrees west
longitude. The frequency is 3880.0 MHz. Polarization is
vertical, and audio is monaural at 6.80 MHz. In Alaska and
Hawaii, NASA Television is available on AMC-7, Transponder
18C, C-Band, located at 137 degrees west longitude. Frequency
is 4060.0 MHz. Polarization is vertical, and audio is
monaural at 6.80 MHz.
